Location Scouting
Working closely with the script or storyboard, a list of potential location ideas is conceived during detailed discussions held between the location scout and members of the production team such as the director, cinematographer, photographer and or production designer. The resulting list of viable location suggestions is then used as the starting point for the search. Beyond fulfilling the relevant aesthetic criteria pertaining to each individual scene, sought-after sites must prove suitable for use as practical filming locations.
Finding the appropriate location involves careful research and extensive searching.
